Nancy Jarrell

Nancy Jarrell is an aficianado of Irish song, music, and dance who has a Masters in Literature with a concentration in Literatures of Ireland. The foci of her studies ranged from an examination of Ireland in Spenser’s Faerie Queen to the works of Swift and Sheridan, Thomas Moore, the Irish Literary Revival, Irish Modernism centered on Joyce and Ulysses, and late 20th Century works including the poetry of Seamus Heaney.
Nancy is an instructor at Portland Community College. She plays Irish music with her husband Mark and other fun folks of the town. She is currently working on a historical fiction novel based on the life of her 4th great-grandmother, Nancy Flynn, who in 1786 became a Shawnee captive and later adoptee.
